Wildsmith by Ron Goulart

The problems of modern living were getting Tom Miley down. It was bad enough that he had to make sure Wildsmith, the robot, didn't keep unscrewing and mailing his hands to female admirers,
but when the writer-robot decided that he was, variously, Mark Twain, a raving drunk, a dog tamer and a sex maniac, Miley was ready to give up in despair.
And then Miley and Wildsmith went on tour -and the chaos really began!
